Vocational Training
- Studies at the Universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Bamberg and Cambridge, England. He was a post-graduate at the University of Cambridge from 1996 to 1998. After that, his first lecture position (till 2002) was at the Centre for School Development and School Management, University of Bamberg (Germany); he became deputy head (2003-2004) after his PhD degree.
- From 2004 to 2006, he was Professor (W1) for Education Management, Director of the Research Group Conditions of Learning Processes at School and Their Support, and Vice-director of the Centre for Research on Education at the University of Erfurt (Germany). In 2006 he was Chair for Empirical Educational Research at the University of Wuerzburg.

Supervision
Supervision of three doctoral students who have now successfully completed their dissertations, as well as others as second or third reviewers or members of the doctoral committee; furthermore supervision of more than 120 student theses (mainly master`s theses). Currently supervising 14 doctoral students as primary reviewer. Three junior professors and five professors have emerged from his institute. Several former employees work for government agencies and foundations. Through the accompaniment of programs for the development of executives and gifted employees has created an extensive network has developed.
